LOVE

It is better to have loved then lost, than to have never loved at all. To realize the significance of this statement, you would have to know the definition of love. I would have to say that the word love is one of the hardest words to define. My personal opinion is that there is no one word or sentence that could define LOVE. Why? Because love is an experience. You can’t just define love to understand it, you have to experience. Love is an experience like no other. Being in the experience of love could end up being the best time of your life, but it can also end up being the worse experience of your life. Someone who is currently experiencing a nice relationship consisting of love, would agree that they wouldn’t change it for the world. However someone who has had love in the grasp of their hearts and then ripped away in a swift moment, they might not agree with the statement, “ It is better to have loved then lost, than to have never loved at all.

Love is a word that is tossed around frequently, but few people actually know the true meaning of it. In my opinion, when you love a person it's because they bring you complete happiness and joy. That person is the person that completes you. There are also two different stages of love. The first stage is when you have general love for a person. In this stage you don't have to be romantically attracted to or involved with a person. That's not the love we will be addressing today. I would like to touch up on being in love. Then there's actually being in love with that certain someone. This love is an emotion that is shared between two people. Back in the day love was a word that was taken seriously, but now there are elementary schoolers who will look you in the eye and swear to you that they are in love with a kid they met in the sandbox.

What's the reasoning and logic behind love? Would you actually believe that I've had a teacher try to tell me that there is actually a love chemical in our body that makes us want to love others and be loved by others. I don't know if that's true or not, but I do know that every one feels better and more content with themselves when they have a significant other. The element of love has even been incorporated in our culture as a nation; why else would we celebrate Valentines Day every February of every year?

Millions of dollars has to go into the celebration of this Holiday with the buying of jewelry, boxes of chocolate, and bouquets of flowers and dozens of roses. But if love is truly just an emotion I don't think its necessary to buy all these expensive things.

Another point that I would like to make is that this thing called LOVE is not what the movies depict it to be. Love doesn't always have a happy ending. Don't get me wrong, love can be the most enjoyable thing that a person may experience, but LOVE can also be a bitch. Love is a tricky thing; it is desired by many but attained by few. Love can be experienced by the poorest man alive, while the richest man alive wouldn't be able to buy true and sincere love.

When I was younger, I never understood why saying those three little words was so difficult for some people, but now I know. True love is something that is very rare. You show someone how much you love them not by what comes out of your mouth, but by the your actions. I’ve heard people say that love is a verb, not a noun. Basically they mean that Actions speak louder than words. Many people are waiting to find the person that they believe they will love for the rest of their life. There are a lucky selected few that can go without having someone to love. They don’t necessarily want to find love, and is somewhat content with just being able to stay single. In a way I should envy these people because at times loves is a burden. Love makes people do things they thought they would never do. A wise person by the name of Eve, who’s a modern day female rapper, wrote a song about love. “Love is blind, and it will take over your mind, what you think is love, it is truly not, you need to elevate and find.” I think what she meant is that many people come to terms with the fact that love may not be out there for them. They might not ever find the person who will love them for them and want to spend the remainder of their lives with them. So as a result the settle for a relationship that may not necessarily be love. So I ask you again, what is love? Love is something deeply desired by most, but actually attained by few.
