What else do you add to a resume?? l0l somebody feel free to remix...or fill me in...because i'm not really sure exactly how they're supposed to look. :]

I decided to do my paper on the definition of "Christian" because I do not think many people really understand what exactly the meaning of the word is. Merriam-Webster Online defines the word Christian as:

1 a: one who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ

b (1): disciple 2

(2): a member of one of the Churches of Christ separating from the Disciples of Christ in 1906

(3): a member of the Christian denomination having part in the union of the United Church of Christ concluded in 1961

2: the hero in Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress

While I have absolutely no idea who they are talking about when they refer to the Pilgrim's Progress, I am going to focus more on the first definition. Plain and simple: "One who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ". No where, in any of the definitions does it say, "Someone who never does wrong," or, "Someone who is just like Christ," which, in my opinion, is how many non believers presume Christians should behave. While, yes, it's true, you should not behave as a total butt wipe if you profess the name of Christ, the fact of the matter is, to be a Christian, all you have to do is believe in Christ and his teachings. I believe this is what holds many people back from accepting the word of God.

John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name"

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death. But the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus, our Lord."

Christianity:

Many Christian rituals differ between denominations, the church you attend, and the individual Christsian themselves. Some common practices include, babtism, communion (also known as The Lord's Supper), and attending church regularly. Baptism and communion are considered instituded by Christ himself.

Baptism--is the process of applying or submerging an individual under water as you say "I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit". The person being baptized is doing this to show their love and commitment to Christ in front of the entire church congregation. Views on the subject differ, but some common opinions include: Baptism shows or symbolizes salvation. It symbolizes the washing away of sins. The Bible tells us to do it! (Matthew 28:18-20: "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.")

New Testement baptism references include: Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:8; John 3:5, 13:10; Acts 1:5, 2:38, 8:16, 19:5; Romans 6:3; Galations 3:27; Epheisans 4:5; 1 Corinthians 1:13-15; 1 Peter 3:21; Hebrews 10:22; 6:2. CHECK IT OUT!

Communion: is supposed to symbolize the relationship within the churches and the coming together as one to acknowledge what Christ has done for us. Different from baptism, it is meant to be practiced again and again in the Christian Church. The bread represents the body of Christ, and the wine represents the blood. Almost every Christian denomination practices communion.

New Testement baptism references include: Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17, 11:24-26; John 6:53-54
